Learning through play
Chunky Monkeys Active Learning for Active Minds
Here at Chunky Monkeys we are passionate about health and well-being and believe it’s never too early to begin encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle. Exposing infants and toddlers to appropriately challenging and exciting physical opportunities will result in longer, healthier and more productive lives. A healthy child is most certainly a happy child!
How much is enough?
According to the NHS, children under 5 who can walk unaided should be physically active every day for at least 180 minutes (3 hours), spread throughout the day, indoors or out.
As part of our Nursery curriculum, children will engage in sport and exercise on a daily basis. Chunky Monkeys also has its very own Sports Patron - Welsh Rugby Legend, Gareth Thomas (Alfie) making regular appearances.
During our daily active learning lessons, our Nursery Nurses will educate and encourage the children to exercise and keep active. They will teach and develop the fundamental movement skills such as; throwing, catching, hopping, running, and jumping through exciting progressive activities and games. The children will learn basic ball skills, whilst also learning how to exercise and stay fit.
Sports teach children so many vital skills, not just how to move, but also social skills, how to be part of a team, competition, how to win and lose, how to support friends, how to channel energy into positive pursuits and much more. Therefore, the emphasis on health, sport and vitality is at the forefront of Chunky Monkeys Active Learning Curriculum.
It is our aim to teach your child how to have fun while staying active!
